Strengthening Grades Committees

organiseThis resolution, aimed at strengthening the union's grades committees in our Region, was passed unanimously by the Regional Council Annual General Meeting on 25 February.

THIS REGIONAL COUNCIL BELIEVES THAT:

1. grades committees can perform three important roles:

  • improving RMT's recruitment and organisation within the grade
  • bringing local reps and activists from different locations together for mutual support, exchange of information and ideas

Making Grades Committees More Effective

organiseI have tabled these thoughts for discussion at today's Regional Council Executive meeting ...

For some time, I have been thinking over the potential benefits of enhancing the role of grades committees within the Region, and would like to schedule a discussion on the subject at this month's Regional Council Executive, with a view to circulating some firm proposals in good time for February's AGM. Here are some thoughts:

Strategy to Defend Stations & Revenue Jobs

This resolution, submitted by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by TfL no.1 branch, was passed unanimously by the October 2009 meeting RMT's London Transport Regional Council.

This branch / Regional Council endorses and will carry out the following strategy for defending stations and revenue jobs:

1. London Underground is currently pursuing several policies which lead us to believe that the company intends to cut stations and revenue jobs within the next few years, including:

Bus Reps Course Mon 28th & Tues 29th September 2009

A very successful two day bus reps course took place in central london on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September. The ever increasing numbers of london busworkers choosing to join RMT will be very well served by this enthusiastic, determined and self-motivated group of volunteers. RMT London Transport Regional Council - Recruitment and Retention Strategy 2009

This strategy was agreed at the January meeting of the Regional Council.
