  • Please download and distribute the attached poster in your Sodexo canteen.

Sodexo has formally notified RMT of their intention to cut up to 30 posts from the TfL catering contract. RMT reps met with Sodexo management on 25 September and stated our union's total opposition to any job cuts whatsoever. Sodexo  catering workers should not bear the brunt of the economic crisis, or pay for it with their jobs.

RMT will oppose all Sodexo job cuts

REORGANISATION AND JOB CUTS - SODEXO (TFL CONTRACT) (LUL/15/4)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/339/20, 27th August 2020) and despite our protests, Sodexo now intends to proceed with its reorganisation including 30 redundancies and has commenced consultation with those at risk. The Lead Officer will also be meeting with the Company to discuss this matter.

London Underground has re-tendered the contract to provide catering services at staff canteens to Sodexo, until 2023. The contract tendering process included an explicit request from LU to deliver “efficiency savings”. This means: job cuts.

Sodexo plans to cut a number of jobs across the contract, at every location, equivalent to 18 full-time positions. RMT opposes these cuts. We are fighting to ensure no Sodexo worker loses their job, has their hours cut, or loses any money.

DISMISSAL – PETRIT MIHAJ, SODEXO (LUL/4/4)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/332/14, 15th December 2014), Branches will be aware of the on-going campaign against Brother Mihaj’s dismissal from Sodexo. A meeting took place with the Senior Assistant General Secretary, the Lead Officer, LTRC and Branch Officers to discuss the issue and the following resolution has recently been received from the London Transport Regional Council:-

Canteen Strike Begins Next Monday

Branches will be well aware of the case of Brother Petrit Mihaj who was dismissed by Sodexo earlier this year. An Employment Tribunal has ruled that he was unfairly dismissed for his Trade Union Activities but despite winning, there is unfortunately no obligation on the company to reinstate him. The judgement was scathing of the treatment he has received and pointed out numerous failings by the Company during the investigation and suspension leading to this unfair dismissal.

Sodexho Canteen Staff Balloted Over Victimisation

London Underground Sodexo staff balloted in union victimisation dispute

Staff working for London Underground caterers Sodexo are to be balloted for both strike action and action short of a strike over the victimisation and dismissal of union activist Petrit Mihaj.

Petrit has been a major force in building union organisation on the LUL Sodexo depot catering contract and has been instrumental in securing union recognition and delivering improvements in pay and conditions and effective representation of staff.
