Industrial Action On The Victoria Line Revised Following Developments
We note the views expressed by our representatives at our meeting on 8 October, and reaffirm the following industrial action, instructing our Victoria line driver members to:
- NOT to recognise the imposed sensitive edge door procedure and to work the previous safer instruction. i.e. go back to the carriage concerned and physically check the cause of activation.
- NOT to sign for the new Defective In Service Instruction (D.I.S.I.) handbook and not to recognise this as a condition of service and to work to the previous D.I.S.I. book.
- NOT to accept and sign for any training booklets/handouts which are delivered as a result of the Victoria lines upgrades training, a process which has not been validated at a competence assurance level.
- NOT to shunt trains into and out of sidings unless in protected manual mode.
- NOT to move any trains in a bi-directional move on the same piece of track.
- NOT to drive trains into sidings with cleaners on board.
- NOT to accept any reformations unless they are in writing including the duty, train number, time of pick-up, date and the signature of the Manager.
Our representatives advise that following progress with this dispute, the remaining actions called by our decision of 20 April 2011 are no longer necessary, and instruct the General Secretary to cancel these instructions to members.
We further note that our representatives will be reviewing and discussing with management the new Defective In Service Instruction (D.I.S.I.) handbook and training book, and will highlight outstanding concerns.
We further instruct the General Secretary to seek written confirmation from London Underground that it will not ask drivers to take trains into sidings with cleaners on board.
This item is to be placed back in front of us in the event of any developments and in any case within 28 days.
A personal letter is to be sent to all members involved explaining the updated situation.
