Resolution: Mario Joseph

TfL no.1 branch submits the following resolution to the Regional Council ...

Haiti humanitarian lawyer Mario Joseph was a guest speaker invited to the UK to appear at various venues, including the RMT Black and Ethnic Minority Committee. He was refused entry into the UK for the most obscure of reasons.

The refusal to admit Mario Joseph is an insult to all who care about Haiti and its people.

The LTRC ask the RMT to call upon the trade union movement, with their relevant contacts within the political arena to show their displeasure at this taking place.

Workshop: Writing Resolutions for RMT Equalities Conferences

25/11/2009 15:30
25/11/2009 17:30

Venue: Unity House

Within the next few months, RMT will hold conferences for young members, women members, black and ethnic minority members, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender members.

Members put issues on the agendas of these conferences by getting their branch to submit a resolution. But that can be a bit daunting, so the Regional Council is holding a workshop on how to write resolutions. We will discuss the issues that these groups of members face at work and in wider society, and learn the practicalities of putting it down on paper as a resolution.

BLACK & ETHNIC SURVEY

Report: RMT Black and Ethnic Minority Members' Conference

Report by Glenroy Watson. The conference took place on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th March 2009.

Conference opened without our Chair, elected at last year’s conference and as a result I was elected to Chair this year's conference in direct contradiction of our ‘own’ standing orders. More about that, later.

Conference was again well attended, but could have been better.

Stop Victimising Elaine!

RMT has demanded that London Underground stop its victimisation of Waterloo station staff representative Elaine Holness.

One of RMT's equality reps emailed me a few questions for a course he is doing. I thought it might be worth sharing the questions and my replies with website readers.
