Apart from the debate about what the Boxing Day ‘dispute’ was all about and whose idea it was, the main chat in mess rooms around the combine in the lead up to Christmas was the leaked plans which LUL have for us in the shape of driverless trains.

With 44 years service and only 13 working days until his retirement, Steve Hover, a respected and well-liked Loughton driver, was summoned to attend a Local Disciplinary Interview (LDI) for infringing LUL’s punitive sickness policy, and given a vindictive 23-week warning.
RMT to Circulate Update on OSN101 Dispute

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd. We instruct the General Secretary to obtain an up-to-date report on the situation with this dispute, with a view to issuing a circular, and information to members, as soon as practical.

Jubilee Line Route Locking Issue Now Closed

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and having consulted with our workplace representatives, we note that this issue is now closed.
London Transport Regional Council and relevant branches to be advised.
Traincrew & Shunters Grades Conference
The Traincrew & Shunters Grades Conference will be held on the 29th to 31st of March in Doncaster.
More details will be added as we receive them.
January Train Grades Committee meeting
The next Train Grades Committee meeting will be held at Unity House on Thursday 26th of January at 1430.

RMTV: Message to London Underground Train Operators

"From the minute I book on, the tracks that I run over, the trains that I drive, the signals that I work under, even so far as the food that I eat: If I know that those people are part of a strong union, I know that their welfare is being looked after as well as mine. If their welfare is looked after I can rest assured that they are working in a safe environment and their going to provide a professional service" - RMT Train Operator, Picaddilly Line.

Strike a badge!
Submitted by Joffe on Wed, 11/01/2012 - 08:41The Bakerloo Branch has commissioned this badge to commemorate our campaigns for JUSTICE last year. The badges will be ready and distributed to members across the combine in a few weeks.
Members are aware that the image of Arwyn and Eamonn is iconic and symbolises the victimisation disputes last year. Off the back of that campaign about another 10 members jobs across the combine were saved as LU backed off. As the badge says "solidarity wins!"
ASLEF shun opportunity for joint working on Trains Functional Council

RMT Wins James Masango's Reinstatement

That we note the correspondence on file and that agreement has now been reached that allows James Masango to return to work and that he has accepted the offer from his employers. This has been achieved after protracted negotiations with London Underground that eventually resulted in a satisfactory conclusion to this whole sorry saga. We congratulate our members and all those involved who helped achieve an acceptable conclusion to this matter.

RMT meet management to discuss ASLEF/LU Olympics ‘deal’
Submitted by Joffe on Thu, 17/11/2011 - 08:08RMT Regional Organiser, Steve Hedley, accompanied by RMT trains functional council reps met with senior LU management yesterday to discuss the ASLEF/LU Olympics ‘deal’.
The RMT made clear that as an independent trade union we were not bound by any deals struck with other organisations. Management understood that and confirmed that there were precedence’s were individual unions ‘failed to agree’ issues on different functional councils.
Total System And Communications Failure On Jubilee Line Friday Evening Exposes Lethal Dangers Of Driverless Trains
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 09/11/2011 - 13:59TUBE UNION RMT revealed today that a total communications and systems failure on the Jubilee Line for nearly an hour during the busy early evening period last Friday evening - 4th November - has exposed the lethal danger of Mayor Boris Johnson and TFL’s plans to bring in driverless trains.
Last Friday the screens in the control on the Jubilee Line went blank for 55 minutes from 18.50 hrs as main and back-up systems failed. Control did not know where units were in the deep tube system covered by the line.

As a previous leaked document revealed, they're making no bones about using the economic crisis to launch the attack.

Justice for Jayesh and James - nearly there

We note that Jayesh Patel has accepted reinstatement to his substantive role as a train driver from February 2012. We note that this is a huge reduction in the sanction initially imposed on him by London Underground.
We also note that London Underground has agreed to reinstate James Masango, but that the terms of this reinstatement are still under discussion.
RMT Demands End To ‘Dangerous’ LUL Plan To Halve Train Maintenance In Latest Move To Put Cuts Before Safety
