The policies of the Regional Council, decided by resolutions passed at Regional Council meetings

Resolution to Regional Council: It’s a normal working day!

This resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch, was carried unanimously by the July meeting of the Regional Council ...

This LTRC request the RMT announce its disgust at the cold and callous behaviour of the Mayor for London, Boris Johnson.

On the 7th July 2005 London Underground was bombed as well as a London Bus. 52 people lost their lives and more than 700 injured.

This event shocked and appalled the British nation as well as the rest of the world. Many RMT members were at work on the day aside the emergency services. London suffered the trauma collectively.

Resolution to Regional Council: Operational Refresher Training

The following resolution, submitted by Finsbury Park branch, was carried unanimously by the July meeting of the Regional Council ...

This region calls on the national union to hold a conference of all grades within the LTRC to discuss significant concerns our members have regarding the reduction and quality of our operational refresher training. We believe this is an attack on the value of our jobs and on safety.

Resolution: Training for Representatives

This resolution, submitted by Hammersmith & City line branch, proposed by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by Neasden branch, was carried unanimously by the May meeting of the Regional Council ...

This Regional Council believes that RMT workplace representatives would benefit from an annual ‘refresher’ training day, and asks head office to request release for this from all employers.

Emergency Resolution: All-Grades Ballot

This resolution, submitted as an emergency resolution by Neasden branch and seconded by Camden 3 branch, was carried unanimiously by the April meeting of the Regional Council ...

This region notes that the plans for station staff cuts affect all grades.

This region notes that our ethos and history supports all grades in action together.

This region calls on the CofE to ballot every single grade within London Underground for the “operational strategic plan” Dispute

Emergency Resolution: Emergency Right to Work Conference

This resolution, submitted as an emergency resolution by LU Fleet and seconded by Jubilee South & East London Line, was carried unanimously by the April meeting of the Regional Council:

1. We note with concern the pre-election commitment of the leaders of all three major parties that public services will be cut in order to fund the public budget deficit.

2. We deplore the attacks made by David Cameron, Gordon Brown and Lord Adonis together with the right wing media on those workers, such as the BA cabin crew, trying to defend their rights, conditions and pay.

Contacting Pressure Groups

This resolution, submitted by Finsbury Park and seconded by Stratford no.1, was carried unanimously by the April meeting of the Regional Council ...

This Regional Council calls on the GS to seek out and find all known independent travel and watchdog pressure groups with a view to building a strong joint campaign against London Underground's reckless assault on the safety of the travelling public in London. We firmly believe that if we can make the clear link between the proposed job cuts and the lowering of passenger safety and security since the recent atrocities committed on 7/7/2005, we will gain the support of the general public, particularly in light of the recent bombings that occurred on the Moscow subway. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Emergency resolution: anti-EDL demonstration, Bolton

The following resolution, submitted by Jubilee South & East London Line branch and seconded by Hammersmith & City branch, was carried unanimously by the March meeting of the Regional Council.

This region notes:

Thousands of UAF supporters gathered in Bolton to oppose the English Defence League on Saturday. The protest was strengthened by striking taxi workers protesting at the EDL coming to their city. It was a magnificent display of anti-fascism. We outnumbered the EDL by 4 to 1.

Resolution: Petition Against £5 Minimum

This resolution, submitted by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by East Ham branch, was carried by the March meeting of the Regional Council.

This Regional Council resolves to organise a petition of all station staff against London Underground's policy of a minimum £5 Oyster top-up at the ticket office window.

Emergency resolution: Stations Job Cuts

The following resolution, submitted by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by Hammersmith & City branch, was carried unanimously by the March meeting of the Regional Council.

This Regional Council deplores TfL's announcement of 700-800 stations jobs. We reaffirm RMT's determination to fight all job cuts, and resolve to step up implementation of the campaign plan that we passed late last year.

We resolve to run a high-profile public campaign against these job cuts, as well as fighting them through industrial action.

Resolution: Stop TfL selling off LUOH

The following resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch with the last paragraph added as an amendment from Stratford no.1 branch, was carried by the March meeting of the Regional Council ...

This region notes the attempted privatisation of TfL Occupational Health Service and wholly oppose the sell off our members rights to in-house occupational health services.

This is grave news as where this has happened in other parts of the railway industry it has lead to a reduction in treatment for our members and it also leads to a one way ticket to redundancy.
