Training workshop: Pensions

Pensions are a very important issue to workers - they ensure a comfortable and dignified retirement - and yet seem both complicated and continually under threat.

In this workshop, one of our rank-and-file RMT pensions reps will explain - and answer questions about - issues including:

• RMT representation on the bodies that oversee your pension
• ill-health pensions
• medical termination
• redundancy, termination and age discrimination
• missing membership and 'lost years'
• AVCs - additional voluntary contributions
• death in service; death in retirement; dependancy
• transfer values

The aim of the workshop is to develop a better understanding on the subject of pensions within the London Transport context. Attending the workshop will enable you to deal with this subject with confidence, and handle members' enquiries without feeling the need to be a financial adviser!
