Update from today's ACAS talks

Update from today's talks.

Night tube

The offer put before the trade unions today was divisive, cynical and an insult to every one of us.

It was designed to buy off the minority to the detriment of the majority.
The offer was made by the CEO with the proviso that the trade unions accept it by 1830 today.

This was a cynical attempt by LUL to try and attempt to panic the unions to accept a divisive offer that benefits few but affects everyone.
We cannot accept the offer on this basis.
The failure to address any of the problems around work life balance is indicative of LULs belligerent attitude during the whole of these negotiations.

We have told LUL we have to take the offer back to our respective General Secretaries for consideration.
We have also told LUL we are available for talks at anytime.

The offer in detail.

Train Operators

As only 11 depots will benefit from the "bung" the fact is that over 2 thirds of drivers will not get anything.

There are some 1400 drivers likely to gain, but over 2800 will not.

The £2000 is to buy your framework, the Professional Train Operator Agreement (PTOA) and sell your future colleagues terms and conditions.
In return you get a massive increase in night turns, extreme turns and an excessive amount of working at the weekends. Sunday's especially.

Station staff - a one off bung of £500, again only for those staff doing night tube.
A cynical and divisive attempt to undermine our solidarity.
No commitment to make sure if and when it is rolled out across the combine staff affected would get this award, plus inflation.
The recruitment of additional staff is welcome.
Perhaps a figure of 838 would be a good starting point.
Even so, CSAs will have to cover night tube on a regular basis.
CSMs and CSS grades will have to work an additional 30% of night turns to cover night tube.

Engineering / Track & Signals - To pay for this divisive offer LU have cynically withdrawn £250 of the initial offer of £750.
Now only those affected by night tube will get the £500, whereas before it was all staff getting £750
Plus imposing rest day roster changes without negotiation for Track & Signals.

Fleet - Similarly to Track&Signals LU have withdrawn the £750 and cut it to £500.
Now only those affected by night tube will get it.

Service Control - The carrot of additional posts is duplicitous. Service Control need meal breaks and if LUL want the service to run 24 hours it is obvious additional jobs are required. Service Control have a similar agreement to drivers PTOA in that SC are only expected to work through the night on a maximum of 3 times per year. LU have failed to address the issues consistently.

MATS - apparently according to LUL you will not be affected by night tube. We obviously do not agree and we believe MATS members deserve better.

The pay deal

The offer is still a below inflation of 1% and the other £500 is for selling our terms and conditions to allow night tube to come in.

The offer was made to the trade unions at lunch time and the 4 trade Unions were given until 1830 to either accept the offer or it will be withdrawn by the company.

All 4 trade unions cannot and will not be railroaded on this fashion.

Over 2/3 s of staff will not benefit from any payments on night tube

The bung to sell your frameworks is a s follows

Drivers - a £2000 bung to sell your current frameworks that will impact on every driver that follow you.
This blood money is to do as many night turns as LU want during the transition period.
Only those depots doing night tube will get it.
If and when night tube is rolled out across the combine there will be NO EXTRA PAYMENTS to drivers affected.

Station grades and other grades.

No commitment to ensure we other grades will get a payment( plus inflation) as and when night tube is rolled out.

No Trade Union would ever counter such an offer.
It is divisive and flies in the face of everything this Union stands for.

The strikes are on

Support the action.
