STM Security Group Travel Safe Officers Working On London Overground To Strike Over Bullying And Intimidation

Our Travel Safe Officer members and union representatives are being subjected to bullying and intimidation by STM Security Group (UK) Ltd. Despite several warnings from the union, management continue to subject our members to this appalling treatment.
Additionally, the company are making changes to our member’s contracts of employment and terms and conditions without any consultation or agreement with the RMT. As a result of the company’s failure to engage in meaningful discussions, the union recently conducted a ballot of our Travel Safe Officer members working for STM Security for strike action and industrial action short of a strike.
I can report that voting in the ballot was as follows:

The General Grades Committee has considered this matter and has taken the following decision:
“That having spoken to our STM reps and fully discussed the issues of the case we instruct the General Secretary to write a personal letter to our members concerned outlining the latest position and congratulating them for their unanimous support in the Strike Action ballot and advising them to support this unions fight by;
- taking strike action and not signing on for any shifts between 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Saturday 03rd November 2012.
- and by way of action short of strike action to not do any overtime or shift changes for any shifts between 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Saturday 03rd November 2012.
Further this General Grades Committee also recognises the solid organising work of our reps and activists within STM and we instruct the General Secretary to include this point in the personal letter along with an STM specific RMT membership application form to assist with our recruitment efforts within the company.
Finally the General Secretary is instructed to write to LOROL management outlining our concerns at the behaviour of their sub-contractor and seeking their positive interventions where appropriate in order to resolve this dispute. Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.”
