London Underground insult staff with pathetic 5 year offer

At the pay talks on Friday, London Underground blamed the recesession for their disgraceful 5 year slap in the face to all staff.
The Director for Employee Relations said "The severe downturn in the economy is having a major effect on all companies, and we are no different. Because of this uncertainty and the steep falls in interest rates and inflation, we have to plan for the risk to our future income. This makes entering into a process of negotiating pay increases extremely difficult."
While productivity goes through the roof and the workforce breaks all records for passenger numbers and customer satisfaction, LUL offered a miserly RPI + 1% for the first year and RPI for the remaining 4 years.

In separate ballots conducted over the past two weeks, tube drivers, cleaners and TFL electricians and engineers have voted overwhelmingly for action in a series of disputes over attacks on agreements and working conditions, pay and threatened redundancies.

TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that electricians and engineers working for contractors Mitie on the TFL contract are to be balloted for strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over redundancies and unilateral changes to working conditions.
