RMT Rejects Tube Lines' Olympic Offer
Submitted by Janine on 1 March, 2012 - 13:05
RMT General Grades Committee decision:
We note the report from our lead officer and reject Tube Lines’ offer on the following grounds:
- The company’s proposals would leave some of our members with no annual leave during the summer school holidays, resulting in many children not having a family summer holiday this year.
- The company’s offer applies only to operational staff, excluding other staff who will also be affected by the Olympics, and the company threatens to halve the financial offer should it apply to all staff.
- The financial offer of £700 only for those with 100% attendance, less for those with lower attendance, is not enough to reward our members for the huge demands on them during the Olympics, nor to meet the costs of childcare and travel for those who are being moved from nights to days and vice versa during this period.
We therefore declare our intention to ballot our members for industrial action should Tube Lines not substantially improve its offer and address these and other concerns. We instruct the General Secretary to prepare a matrix for this ballot, and to place this matter back in front of us in the event of any development, and in any case by 8 March.
London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.
