Metronet is Back in LUL - But TUPE Transfer Concerns Remain

METRONET ARE BACK IN LUL BUT TUPE TRANSFER CONCERNS REMAIN…….!

RMT Members on Metronet are rightly pleased to be returning to London Underground Ltd and public ownership after 5 years in the private sector. Though no one seemed to be listening at the time; the RMT said all along that “the PPP would end in tears”, and foresaw the huge waste of millions of pounds of tax payers money “disappearing” out to the Metronet shareholders!

GOVERMENT AND LUL: WE TOLD YOU SO!

THE TUPE TRANSFER WAS NOT PLAIN SAILING

For the last 3 weeks the RMT has had to lead the fight against LUL’s attempts to turn the TUPE transfer into a mass CHRISTMAS CARVE UP OF YOUR TERMS & CONDITIONS!

Metronet/LUL - MISLED Staff to believe their terms & conditions would remain intact when in fact LUL was trying to TEAR UP the original PPP Code of Conduct or “jobs for Life Deal”, DESTROY agreements on No Compulsory Redundancies, the Metronet Voluntary Redundancy Scheme, REPLACE the Metronet Disciplinary & Grievance Procedure’s with worse LUL policy’s and even to REMOVE New Years Working Payments!

ALL THESE HAVE BEEN SUCCESFULLY DEFENDED BY THE RMT, FOR NOW!

It looks like RMT are being cast into the role of “Prophet’s of DOOM” again, as sadly London Underground & TfL are cooking up plans for our future that has all the makings of disaster for staff and the job itself. As you’ve probably been briefed, under the TUPE transfer we have been separated as Staff from our jobs; “Metronet” are to keep the work contracts, only staff have gone to LUL resulting in us being transformed into some form of “LUL agency workers”.

Guarantee’s have been provided by LUL, If Metronet choose later to outsource the work, but RMT solicitors have advised LUL’s promises are not as watertight as management have made out!

THE RMT WILL BE SEEKING PROPER GAURANTEE’S FROM TfL / LUL

AND WILL APPLY PRESSURE IF NEED BE TO GET THEM!
