A demonstration is to take place at the offices of UBS at 100, Liverpool Street, EC2, to protest against the actions of Lancaster (Rentokil).
Alberto Durango was sacked from Lancaster on 4th February 2010 for organising the workers and standing up for their rights. Alberto is a good friend of London RMT Bus Workers and they are asked to attend and give their support to him and the cleaners.
The cleaners are being pressured to agree to a cut in working hours with subsequent loss of pay while still being expected to do the same amount of work.
Full support from RMT's London Transport Regional Council to striking British Airways cabin crew. Like us, they are transport workers fighting for workers' rights, services and safety in the face of a hostile management, press vilification and massive political pressure to surrender. Solidarity forever!
Venue: Bedfont Football Club, The Orchard, Hatton Road, Bedfont, London TW14 8QT
Cabin crew will walk out just after midnight (00.01 hours, 20th March) after BA failed to table acceptable proposals on the issues of job cuts and crews' fears that management is driving down standards at the airline.

The next meeting of the Morden and Oval branch will take place on Wednesday 24th March from 5.30pm at The Wheatsheaf public house, 2, Upper Tooting Road, London, SW17. It is situated next to Tooting Bec tube station.

Venue: ex-Services Club, Harvey Road, Leytonstone
All workers have the legal right to refuse to work in unsafe conditions. By using this right, we can protect ourselves and force employers to provide a safer workplace for us, our workmates and our passengers. With employers under increasing pressure to cut corners in order to save money, this issue is more important than ever.
The workshop will ensure that you understand your legal rights and how to use them.
This training workshop will look at:
- what the law says
- unsafe situations that arise in rail and transport
Our branch meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month. They begin at 1700 and generally run until 1900.
The meetings are held at 'The Ex-Servicemen’s Club' in Harvey Road, Leytonstone. This is approximately a two minute walk from Leytonstone underground station.
Bob Crow writes ...
RMT is among many unions and other organisations supporting a major national demonstration to defend the welfare state and public services, initiated by the National Pensioners’ Convention.
The march will assemble from midday at Temple Place on London’s Embankment on Saturday April 10, with the rally beginning at 2pm in Trafalgar Square.
With a general election likely to take place soon after, this is an opportunity to speak out in favour of defending the National Health Service, improving pensions and defending public services against cuts.
The 'Union's Forum' is being held on Sunday 11th April 18.30 -20.30, at Broadway Theatre, Broadway, Barking, IG11 7LS. (Map)
Hope not Hate and Billy Bragg will be attending the Forum which will discuss the consequences of the BNP strengthening its grip and the positive alternative of uniting the local community to fight for jobs, social housing and public services.
