The Jubilee South and East London Line Branch meeting is held at The Blue Eyed Maid in London Bridge. Each meeting is on pay day at 1600 hours.

There is a map here for the Blue Eyed Maid. It is at most a five minute walk from the Borough High Street exit of London Bridge station.

The RMT is to hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) in November to discuss changes to the Unions rule Book. Motions already listed include changing the amount of years you must be a union member to go to the AGM and how many delegates can be sent to the AGM. The delegates for this conference shall be the same delegates who attended the AGM.

The conference takes place in Doncaster and ANY member of the RMT can attend as an observer.

I encourage members to register now for the public meeting the RMT has convened to examine the crisis in working class political representation. It will be held in London at the Camden Centre on Saturday 7th November 2009 between 11am and 3pm.

The 2009 RMT Annual General Meeting decided to hold this non-binding and non-resolution based Conference, to discuss with like-minded socialists and trade unionists how best we can promote working class political interests.

As part of the London Shop Stewards Network is holding this meeting as part of its program aimed at supporting London CWU postal workers.

At the meeting we will be proposing that in light of the attacks on the CWU postal workers it is necessary to push for our individual unions to coordinate industrial action in existing/coming disputes with CWU strike dates.

Also, that we start building for “supportive actions” if called for by the CWU postal workers.

cleanersWith GBM's contract being transferred to Initial, who are to further sub-contract it to ICS, Tube cleaners are angry that they are being treated like parcels to be passed around. The only solution is to kick out the contractors and bring Tube cleaning back into an integrated, publicly-owned London Underground.

Join cleaners and their trade union, RMT, in protesting at the offices of LU Metronet, Templar House, 81-87 High Holborn (map here). Bring placards, banners and friends!

Anti-fascismAssemble at Upney station.

The fascist BNP - who would ban trade unions if they ever came to power - plan to hold a rally at Upney station TODAY (Thursday 19th) at 7pm.

RMT's London Transport Regional Council has called a counter demonstration for 6pm at Upney station to prevent this racist and fascist group sowing divisions amongst the local community and workforce to further their own political ends.

Within the next few months, RMT will hold conferences for young members, women members, black and ethnic minority members, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender members.

Members put issues on the agendas of these conferences by getting their branch to submit a resolution. But that can be a bit daunting, so the Regional Council is holding a workshop on how to write resolutions. We will discuss the issues that these groups of members face at work and in wider society, and learn the practicalities of putting it down on paper as a resolution.
