Workshop fixed term contract ballot results 'smash' Tory anti strike laws

FIXED TERMS CONTRACTS, WORKSHOP STAFF, PICCADILLY LINE – TUBE LINES (LUL/13/2)

Further to my circular IR/247/17 14th June 2017, the result of the ballot of our members has been received from the independent scrutineer and was considered by the National Executive Committee at the end of last week. The result is as follows: -

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:        144

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                            121 (84% of eligible)

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                115 (80% of eligible)

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                 6

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     0

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:        144

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                            119 (83% of eligible)

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                117 (80% of eligible)

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                 2

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     2

As you will see, on both questions the new 40% and 50% thresholds were smashed and the NEC has congratulated our reps and members for a successful campaign which brought about this overwhelming result.

Following on from this rock solid call for action, a meeting has been arranged between the lead officer, our representatives and JNP AP at Director level today. Tomorrow the National Executive Committee will consider the lead officer’s report of the outcome of that meeting and consult with our representatives to decide the way forward. I will be sure to keep branches fully informed of developments.
