What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

Tube strike ballot to be held in defense of London Bridge 3

In light of the deplorable treatment of our stations staff members; Brothers Siussi 52 weeks final warning, Sharp 52 weeks final warning, along with Cornel’s summary dismissal and his failed appeal that was an utter miscarriage of justice; We instruct the General Secretary to ballot all grades/members (CSA1, CSA2, CSS, CSM’s & RCI’s but excluding LU Staff Trainers at Ashfield House) based in all station areas and Cover Groups on London Underground for strike action and actions short of a strike.

The action short of strike to be in the form of a ban on overtime and/or rest day working as well as an instruction not to carry out revenue duties by not challenging customers without tickets/with failed Oyster cards/bank cards and not servicing POMs. This is up to six months following the date of the ballot result.

Further, we instruct the General Secretary to convene a reps meeting to discuss and agree a campaigning strategy to get the turn out required and a ‘yes’ vote. We demand all sanctions against these members are rescinded and full reinstatement to work in their contractual grades and, that London Underground properly adhere to and enforce their Staff Assaults policy and procedures.

All members to be informed email and text.

All LU Stations Staff to be informed by a written letter, email and text.

Relevant Branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
