Justice for Central Line driver Danny Davis

RMT Union is balloting all Train Operators and Instructor Operators at Loughton, Leytonstone, and Hainault Depots on the East End of the Central Line for STRIKE ACTION following the high-handed and overly severe treatment of Train Operator Danny Davis.

On 10th July, London Underground sacked Danny Davis at CDI for gross misconduct.

On 9th March, Danny opened and closed the train doors at Ruislip Gardens and did not allow enough time for an elderly customer to alight the train. The customer fell onto the platform and the train moved off. Thankfully after being checked at hospital the customer had no injuries.

  • Many comparators of similar and even more serious incidents where the train operator had either no action taken against them or a much more appropriate sanction were brought up. These were ignored.
  • Mitigations contributing to Danny Davis’ incident around his wife’s ongoing illness and home life were brushed over.
  • Danny Davis has been employed by LUL for 20 years and his record was unblemished. His dismissal was unfair and is a further continuation of an increasingly common approach and abuse of the disciplinary procedures the company is actively and purposely pursuing against our members.

You will receive ballot papers soon.
