Central Line drivers to be balloted over threatened displacements

DISPLACEMENT – TRAIN OPERATORS – CENTRAL LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/16/4)

LUL has decided to bring forward its plans to displace 12 Train Operators at the east end of the Central Line to early in the New Year. The affected members would be sent not just to other depots on the Central line but other depots across the Network and further afield.  We have serious concerns over the effect this will have to members’ work/life balance as it could see a two hour a day increase in traveling time to and from work.  This is in total breach of the pay and night tube settlement where it was promised that there would be minimum disruption to train operators.

The National Executive has considered the matter and has instructed me to ballot all Train Operators and Instructor Operators at Leytonstone, Hainault and Loughton for Strike Action and Industrial Action Short of a Strike. Ballot papers will be sent out to members First Class from Friday 23rd December 2016 with a closing date of First Post Thursday 12th January 2017.
