The Bakerloo Branch of the RMT represents and organises members of all operational grades on the Bakerloo Line. This includes station staff, train drivers and service controllers. We also have members from the old British Rail Hotels.
The Bakerloo Branch is responsible for the effective union organisation on the Bakerloo Line. The Branch is the first port of call for members who need assistance. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 16:00 hours, upstairs in the Clachan pub, Kingly Street, near Oxford Circus tube.
If you have any any problems or want to know more about the Branch please email the Branch Secretary, Brian Munro at bakerlooline@rmt.org.uk.
Overtime Improvements on the Bakerloo!
Submitted by Nattrass on Sat, 20/02/2010 - 14:37T/Ops on the Bakerloo Line could not believe their luck, when in an all too rare show of altruism, management swept away the existing way of booking overtime and brought in a new improved system.
Openly weeping with joy an Bakerloo T/Op told us:
"The previous system was bonkers, and now thanks to Bakerloo management we don't have to endure the drudgery of - finishing late - picking up a phone and informing the desk DMT - then hanging up."
A Bakerloo manager informed us:
Key workers campaign to stop homes sell off
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Thu, 18/02/2010 - 06:01 Tenants of affordable keyworker housing owned by the Crown Estate are opposed to the sell off of their homes to a new landlord. The estates comprise some 1300 homes in central London.
Sign the online petition calling on Gordon Brown to intervene to stop this sell off:
LU use recession as cover to undermine jobs and safety
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Wed, 13/01/2010 - 20:07
We all know that there is a recession. We have witnessed it first hand with this year’s pay cut and the sacking of our members just to reduce staffing numbers.
But not all companies necessarily view a recession as a bad thing. What LU are doing is hiding behind the recession and using it as a excuse to cut our pay, slash jobs and introduce unsafe working practices.
New Year, where's the cheer?
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Wed, 13/01/2010 - 20:05
So after the pay has been settled in time for Christmas we start the new year looking forward to the impending major attacks on staffing levels across all stations which will impact immensely on ours and customers safety. London Underground in an attempt to claw back money from its fatal PPP collapse is making us pay for its incompetence.
Massive Yes Vote to defend Fitz and Joel!
Submitted by lynchylynch on Tue, 12/01/2010 - 12:45RMT train driver members on the Bakerloo Line have returned a massive yes vote in the fight to defend 2 of our colleagues who were recently summarily dismissed.
In a 50% turnout Elephant & Castle members voted a massive 10-1 in favour of strike action to defend Bro. Chambers and Queens Park returned a handsome 4-1 majority in defence of Bro. Miah.
All Bakerloo drivers are urged to support the fight to reinstate both.
There is a meeting on Thursday 14th January at 16:00 hours in the Clachan: nearest tube Oxford Cicus, to discuss what action we take next.
More staff cuts facing train side
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Tue, 12/01/2010 - 08:48RMT reps on the Trains Functional Council have been informed by London Underground bosses on plans to cut more staff on the train side. Bill O'Dowd reported "we have now had confirmation, that Management intend to remove Rostered Team Talk from new working Time Tables, this was revealed to us at the last TFC". The RMT objected to these further cuts to train grades staffing levels.
Support your sacked colleagues. Vote YES for strike action!

The article follows:
Three Bakerloo Line drivers have received early Christmas presents from the Bakerloo Line management in the past couple of weeks: two sacked, one dipped.
All three cases could quite easily have been handled more compassionately by management but instead the axe was wielded unnecessarily.

After the sacking of Fitz Chambers, the Bakerloo Train Grades newsletter asked the question, who’s next? The answer is Joel Miah.
Joel was summarily dismissed on Monday December 14th.
Reinstate Joel Miah!
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Tue, 15/12/2009 - 13:40The following letter was sent to RMT General Secretary:
To: General Secretary
Dear Bob,
Following the result of CDI, a meeting of the Bakerloo Branch was held and agreed the following resolution:
“This Branch notes the summary dismissal of Bro Joel Miah, a train driver member at Queens Park and is appalled at another gross unfair treatment of a long standing and respected member of staff with an exemplary record.
This Branch believes that London Underground has an agenda of reducing staffing levels and no one gets a fair hearing at Company Disciplinary hearings.
Who will be next?
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Wed, 09/12/2009 - 20:28 Train staff will be aware that Fitz Chambers was sacked on Tuesday 1st of December 2009. As a result of his unfair dismissal Bakerloo RMT unanimously agreed to ballot all Bakerloo drivers for his re-instatement.
It is the union’s conviction that London Underground has an agenda of reducing staffing levels and has an agenda of getting rid of syndicates in train crew depots. It is our view that these are the real reasons that Fitz was sacked and why he did not get a fair hearing.
Resolution: Reinstate Fitz Chambers!
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 09:07The following resolution was carried unanimously at the Bakerloo Branch AGM:
"This Branch notes the summary dismissal of Bro Fitz Chambers on Tuesday 1st of December 2009 and is appalled at this gross unfair treatment of a long standing and respected member of staff with an exemplary record.

Is there life on ASLEF?
Submitted by Nattrass on Wed, 25/11/2009 - 11:34Astromoners claimed that the planet ASLEF has life. The shock claim has astounded stargazers throughout the world - one of whom was quoted as saying:
"We thought it was just a useless lump - devoid of life, floating around aimlessly doing whatever it was told to do by the Laws of Universal Lethargy (L.U.L.)"
Similiar claims for the moon known as "TESSA" have been denied
Is there life left in ASLEF?
Submitted by Bakerloo admin on Tue, 24/11/2009 - 19:11
Posters have appeared (see opposite) from what seems like rank and file ASLEF members criticising the role of their leadership during the last 12 months of pay negotiations and urging ASLEF members to vote no in their referendum on LUL’s pay offer. The question is does this mean that there is life left in ASLEF?
Since the beginning of RMT's pay campaign the ASLEF's role has been disgraceful. They have not backed RMT's reasonable demands for a decent pay offer for all grades but have done their utmost to disrupt it. Gone are the days of respecting picket lines. Gone are the days of trade union solidarity.
ASLEF have done management’s bidding since November 2008 when the RMT submitted its pay claim. While the RMT has done its level best to negotiate a fair settlement for all grades, they have been craven, cowardly and worse: they have collaborated with London Underground management to undermine our campaign.
