Tube strike action suspended following significant progress made by RMT

Strike action on London Underground has been suspended following significant progress made by RMT negotiators and London Underground Limited (LUL) representatives.

Planned strike action by over 3,000 members on LU stations on Wednesday 4 and Friday 6 will now not go ahead.

Following talks at ACAS, RMT has managed to save key jobs, prevent detrimental changes to rosters and secure protection of earnings around grading changes.

Strike suspended - offer represents significant progress and the elimination or reduction of several threats

ALL INDUSTRIAL ACTION IS SUSPENDED

The Union has been in talks with LUL at ACAS and a set of proposals has been received in relation to each area of dispute regarding the Stations Change Proposals. A summary of these items is as follows:

LUL commits to adding a number of CSAs back into local rosters, comprising:

Passenger leaflet: Why stations are striking

We provide an essential service to London. Now our employer wants to make us pay for a financial crisis we didn't create with cuts to jobs and conditions, including pensions.

London Underground station staff are striking on 4 and 6 October to fight for an increased staffing level, and to protect our terms and conditions.

Tube union, RMT will take strike action on London Underground on October 4 and 6 over job losses and safety concerns

strike flag

Tube union, RMT will take strike action on London Underground on October 4 and 6 over job losses and safety concerns.

The union has been locked in a long running dispute over 600 station staff cuts and detrimental working conditions since last year.

Safety concerns have also been raised regarding fewer staff facing higher workloads, more lone working and increased fatigue.

The job losses planned will affect every aspect of the tube including stations and maintenance, leading to the likelihood of more unstaffed stations and a lowering of safety standards.

Station strike called on 4th and 6th of October

Dear RMT Member,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS – LONDON UNDERGROUND

STATIONS & REVENUE INDUSTRIAL ACTION CALLED

Your Lead Officer has consulted with your Stations Reps and received detailed feedback on members’ demands in response to LUL’s latest position and proposals regarding station staffing. A further presentation was made at Stations Functional Council recently to completely re-organise station areas which has only added to members anger over these attacks on your jobs and terms and conditions.

Trains Grade Meeting

Train grades meetings are the time for RMT’s train driver activists from across LU to get together to debate issues, formulate plans of action and hear reports from functional and local reps.

All RMT train drivers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meetings are from 1430 to 1600 and alternate between Zoom and in person. Your local rep will be able to give you Zoom details to join the virtual meetings, or otherwise contact one of the Train Grade officers.

December meeting date is TBC.

For more info see the attached poster.

Ballot called over Acton Town car park plans

REMOVAL OF CAR PARKING FACILITIES, ACTON TOWN DISTRICT DEPOT - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

The Union declared a failure to agree with London Underground over the Company's decision to remove car parking facilities at Acton Town District Depot which have been in place for over 25 years. It is clear no rational thinking has been used in taking this decision and members should not be forced into longer working days with no secure, reliable car parking facilities.

Vote now: detrainment ballot closes on 17th of August

10th August 2023

Dear Colleague,

REMOVAL OF DETRAINMENT STAFF - LONDON UNDERGROUND

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE - MAKE SURE YOU RETURN YOUR BALLOT PAPER - VOTE 'YES' TO BOTH QUESTIONS

I urge all members to return your ballot paper as soon as possible. It is vital that we achieve the highest possible turnout and the highest possible vote saying YES for action to demand that LUL withdraws its plans to remove detrainment staff.
